Last October, the Cardiac Electrophysiology Unit at Moncloa University Hospital, HLA Group. published the longest followup to date ever included in the literature (2.5 years), being the largest published series on Persistent Atrial Fibrillation (between 4 and 11 years of stable duration of the arrhythmia), described to date. The largest published series on Persistent Atrial Fibrillation at this time, included in the review “Circulation Arrhythmia and Electrophisyology” of a German group (Dr. Koektuerk from the University of Cologne), does not exceed 10 and a half months of followup, with some 67% of patients in sinus rhythm.

The complete work of Dr. Paylos and his team can be found in the Journal of Atrial Fibrillation.
